I have a few events and trips coming up this summer, and was shopping for something a little more special than my usual staples! If I’m in the mood for color, Farm Rio is a Brazilian brand I love that’s known for their unique, vibrant prints and little details. While their long styles can be a bit overwhelming on a shorter frame, I recommend checking out their rompers and mini dresses which I’ve found to be fairly petite-friendly. Below are a few fit notes on recent styles that I ordered!
Schutz sandals 5.5 (more colors), ShopMoss earrings
1. Belted V-Neck Romper
After much debate, I didn’t keep this one but loved the silhouette and lilac color – even Nick couldn’t help commenting on how flattering it was. The cut visually nips in the waistline with semi-statement sleeves and A-line cut shorts. It’s made of 100% organic cotton with covered buttons down the front and an intricately beaded belt.
Fit wise, the button-up waist runs on the snug side without stretch, and is fitted on me in size XS. The neckline gaps against my chest and would fit better on someone with either a slightly longer torso or fuller bust, but petites can try a quick DIY fix using two safety pins. The neckline gap is common for me with lower cut pieces, so my trick is create a small pleat on each side using the excess neckline fabric, and safety pin the pleats down on each side.
2. Embroidered Mini Dress
So much beautiful detail to be discovered at every angle on this dress! In this post I’ve showed it dressed down with flat sandals and a wicker bag, or dressed up with heels and a clutch. This review from a fellow petite customer was spot-on about this piece being feminine, whimsical, and beautiful quality. It also stood out to me for being soft and comfortable, made of a linen-viscose blend that’s smoother to the touch than regular linen.
Adding to the comfort factor, the back is smocked for stretch with a side zipper for easy entry. There’s gorgeous eyelet lace detail down both sleeves and crochet trim all along the neckline and hem. The torso and waistline has wiggle room on me, so I’d say it fits true to size for an XS. Dress is also sold here.
3. Pineapple Garden Romper (also at Saks)
This piece was right up my alley for the blue print and cool & comfortable linen blend fabric. It was perfect for a recent Cape Cod visit, where I wore it casually with my flat Sam Edelman sandals and dressed it up for dinner with wedges.
The straps on the XS work on a petite frame, but as the sizes go up, they likely get longer and would need to be shortened for petites. Fit was TTS everywhere else and the sash belt helps for adding some waist definition. FYI the website description says the buttons down the front center are decorative and not functional, but they’re definitely functional!
That dress is so incredibly ugly.
Gorgeous prints and details on these pieces! I will definitely check this brand out. Thanks for sharing!
So glad to hear you love the prints and details as much as I do!
These are the kinds of posts I love! Thank you for introducing me to a brand I didn’t know and showing some unique styles! I also love the classics but these are really fun

Thank you, Kat! I think the embroidered dress in particular could suit any age xx
How do you pin the fabric on the romper? Have the same one and struggling to get it to fit right.
Hi Vanessa, if you send me a DM on Instagram (@jeanwang) I can send you a quick video to show you how I pinned it!
Will do. Thank you!
