While I love a good festive look for the holidays, I also appreciate more understated evening looks that can be worn well beyond this season. I recently on this jumpsuit, and thought I’d recreate the look using separates – black “leather” pants that I already own, plus a black tee with a draped shoulder line. The result gives me more versatility, and easier bathroom trips!
I first shared these faux leather ankle pants earlier this fall in this post and have styled them several ways, including casually with sneakers (see on me). If you’ve tried on the regular ankle pants I’ve been loving over the past 2 years, these are actually the same cut but in a soft and lightweight faux leather. As with many styles of Express pants, I tried on both the 00 Petite and 00 Short and they fit exactly the same in this style.
A note about this draped top – I couldn’t find it in XXS, so got XS and it fits loose on me. I’d stick TTS or possibly even size down.

I turned them inside out and ironed the backsides only on very low heat!
Is it just me? I don’t think these pants are flattering at all. Jean looks good in everything but these pants are just cheap looking and don’t compliment her delicate figure. Hard pass and a bit dissappointed in the quality of “partner” posts lately. Would love to see more quality classic pieces.
