2 Ways to Style a Slip Skirt: Cozy vs Glam

Over the weekend I shared a few seasonal outfits and the satin slip skirt look was the favorite by far over on Instagram! Slips have been one of my favorite, understated yet elegant pieces in recent years and I wanted to share 2 other ways to dress them up or down.

See my Instagram reel video for a few tucking tips & tricks and these outfits in motion!

1. Cozy

Earlier this season I shared a review of this slip skirt, so please see that post for some of my likes & dislikes! I had styled the slip with a cozy, oversized sweater and mentioned that it could also be paired with boots for cold weather. Many years ago I was very iffy about skirt hemlines overlapping the top of my boots, but have now come to see it as very chic (and practical for less exposure)! What are your guy’s thoughts?

2. Glam

I recently shared my love for this velvet corset and showed it styled with trouser pants. For tucking into thinner skirts, I layered a pair of smoothing shapewear shorts over the bottom of the corset to minimize any lumps and bumps. I usually wear Uniqlo shaper shorts which offer a very light level of compression and are comfy for all day wear, and have been on the market for a good pair with stronger compression and hold!

For a look like this for a fancier dinner or party, I’d finish it with a pair of heels or strappy sandals. These sparkly Simmi London sandals are gorgeous (and come in wide widths) but very high and not for long periods of walking. Fingers crossed I’ll last in them on NYE!
