The Relaxed Oversized Blazer

fall 2022 petite smart casual blazer work outfit

Bershka blazer xs petite (similar), TOPSHOP JEANS 25 (runs small), Reformation tank xs & sandals sz 5,
Sophiya necklace, Naghedi bag (my review), Edited Pieces belt xxs

I’ve been searching for a petite-friendly oversized blazer ever since last fall, after being inspired by London street style. It’s such a chic staple piece and I love how effortless it looks paired with jeans or even tailored shorts as we transition into fall. For this look you want the blazer to have a roomy, “borrowed from the boys” vibe without swallowing up a petite frame. I got XS petite in this which is one size up from my usual, and it works nicely for that oversized vibe – could probably go with even a looser fit, but this is a nice stepping stone from my usual fitted blazers!

Also multiple colors & regular sizing

This is a new-to-me brand and the quality of the blazer is fair for the affordable price point! As we head into fall, I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for similar blazers in higher quality fabrics as well. To help balance the look of a roomier fitting jacket, I always like to push up the sleeves a bit using the rubber band or hair elastic trick.

Bershka also makes a number of on-trend pieces I’ve been looking for like tailored yet relaxed trousers, though the petite sizing in these items do go quickly. I’ve also been looking to branch out to retailers like this that ship internationally for free, since I know many of my finds on here are not easily accessible outside the US!

Here’s a few other petite blazer options if you’re looking for more substantial, higher quality fabrics:

For a quick and easy look that feels polished, I paired it here with minimalist strappy sandals, my favorite Reformation sweater tank (nice and thick quality), and my go-to Topshop straight jeans (see my fit review here). These are some of my most worn jeans that also come in white, but as a heads up just note that their petite length jeans run short! There are more sizes available in the regular length, and if you need to do some DIY hemming you see my tips for cutting denim to the perfect length and minimizing fraying.

I’m so glad you covered this cause I’m having a hard time finding a good blazer! Question on this one- are the pockets real or decorative?

I’m not home this week so can’t check for a while, sorry! I didn’t pay attention since I don’t use those pockets on blazers.

    Hi Jean!

Great look! It’s hard to find just the right oversized fit for petites and this one hits the mark perfectly and in a great color! Love the sleeves pushed up and a great tip with the rubber band or hair tie holding them. I haven’t been wearing blue jeans lately, but love, love love white ones so will be trying this look with those. Thanks for the inspiration, hope all is well in Boston!
