While I consider myself a bit of a shopping expert after all this time, knee-high boots are still, without a doubt, one of the hardest items to come by for someone with my body type. Over my decade of blogging, it’s been a unicorn style that’s frequently requested and rarely found off the rack. I always knew it was a style I wanted to refine for Edited Pieces, but that didn’t make the process any less daunting.
A while back, a few thousand of you kindly dug out your measuring tapes and helped me fill out a survey all about boots. The fit requests varied greatly: narrow calf, wide calf, narrow ankles, wide footbed, extended foot sizes, slim and tall shaft, short and wide shaft, and every combo in between.
For our first boot, I ultimately decided to focus in on the most requested fit from our survey results. After countless rounds of samples and fit tests, I’m so excited to share a timeless knee-high boot with a shorter shaft + slimmer calf. When foraying into the world of boots, I started with a pair that I already owned – one with many positive customer reviews and a record of quality. I worked backwards to research where they were made, which turned out to be a small factory that’s specialized in boots for over a decade. Together, we pored over the details and worked on developing a new style with everything I’ve wanted in a boot but couldn’t find:
- Generously-cushioned insoles
- Flexible, non slip sole
- Stable block heel at the perfect 2.5 inch height
- Zipper along the inner ankle area for easier on & off
- Silicone band along the inner top opening to help keep the shaft from sliding down
- Made using high quality vegan suede with a little stretch
- Timeless almond-shaped toe
Sizing
Whole sizes 4 – 9. If you typically find yourself in between two different sizes, I’d take the size up.
Fit
Slim calf with a petite-friendly shaft height.
Below are the measurements in inches, and note the material has stretch. It stretches comfortably up to about one inch wider than the listed calf measurement.

Hi there, I cannot share that as it’s proprietary information, but I recommend browsing boots at Nordstrom because they categorize the fit as narrow, standard, and wide calf and define the measurements for each category!

Hi there – I am wearing size 6 in the first photo because that was our sample size and the only pair I had on hand, but for the brown I can wear either 5 or 6 depending on the desired fit.

Jean, thank you for making these! I agree that this is one of the most challenging items to find in a proper fit. I love the style you designed; they look perfect! But I would LOVE to see the shaft height not increase with the shoe size. I am 5’ tall with thin calves and ankles, but wear a size 7. I need a shaft height below 14” and it’s so hard to find that along with boots that also don’t have extra width in the ankles in a size 7 vs a size 5.
Hi Dena, I totally get that and have heard from many petite ladies who struggle with boots and garments (like pants) increasing too much in length as size goes up.
After much research on our customer sizes, our shaft height increase from size 5 to 7 is only 0.5 inches, compared to a standard increase of 1.0 to 1.5 inches. I know our style won’t suit all body types, but wanted to note that I am 5 feet tall and had tried on the size 7 which hit me just below the knee. The shaft material is pliable and isn’t uncomfortable if it hits at the knee line. Hope this helps!

Hi Jean, do you have a EUR / UK size reference as buying from the UK for local delivery. I notice some US 7 translates to UK 4, some says UK 5.

Jean, from where is the shaft height measured — the floor? Top of instep? Etc. Thanks.
Hi Jane, it’s measured from the junction of the heel to the top of the shaft, from the backside! We will illustrate this better on the website, but it is the total height of the boot minus the heel height. You can try sitting in a chair, putting your foot down flat on the ground and measuring the distance from the ground to the bend of your knee to determine your calf height.
