Late summer finds: pearl sandals + affordable swimwear

high rise black amazon swimsuit bikini good for postpartum

Lately I’ve been sharing some looks in anticipation of fall (who doesn’t love cozy sweaters + leggings?) but I know in many parts of the world, cool weather is still a ways off! So for those still deep in the summer dressing mindset, I wanted to share a pair of water-friendly sandals I’ve been loving as well as a few affordable Amazon reviews.

Ever since this spring I was on the hunt for a pair of sandals that looked nice, but would also be practical for trips to the pool, beach, or taking the kids to splash pads around the city. I had debated over these Stuart Weitzman ones for a long time and looked for alternatives before finally taking the plunge!

Stuart Weitzman Goldie Sandals

In white, black, nude (poudre) or clear. Sold at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks

I love the sleek look and the addition of feminine pearls which is right up my alley. A couple of you also got these sandals in black and shared with me how much you love them! Each pair comes with extra pearls just in case any fall off. If you don’t typically like the feel of thong style sandals that goes in between your toes, or if you’re not into pearls, check out the SW Sawyer sandals which are their more minimalist jelly sandal.

I tried on both the nude and clear Goldie and both worked . I ended up doing a poll and most of you voted for the nude, but I ended up going with clear as it’s a little more versatile for my summer wardrobe!

Tassel Chiffon Coverup (under $25)

In 7 colors

A very cute, very lightweight coverup with fun details like the crochet lace applique and pom pom trim. Unlike some “barely there” cover ups, I was drawn to this because the style and coverage allows you to actually take it from the pool or beach straight to lunch or around town!

Fit wise, note that on a very petite frame it’s a loose, straight cut fit so would be ideal on someone a little taller than me (5 feet). The arm holes of the size Small are also roomy on me, but if you don’t mind a looser fit for a coverups this could work even if we’re similar in size.

Netted Tote Bag  (under $25)

I initially got this to put the kids sandy beach toys in but it’s a cute, boho-inspired bag in general for summer weekends or going to the farmers market! For smaller objects, I use a zippered canvas pouch inside this bag so that nothing gets lost.

Ruffled Sleeve Bikini (under $30)

In 15 colors

Flattering little swimsuit with ruching on both sides of the bottoms. I would say these are more of a mid – high rise, as they fall below my belly button when I move around and I’m on the shorter side. These days I prefer a true high rise that fully covers my navel, but wanted to share for those who like this rise! The bikini top ties in the back, making it adjustable, and has removable padded cups. The ruffles don’t look as dramatic as they do in the stock photo, so don’t be scared off by that!

Cross Back One Piece

In 8 colors/ prints

For my one-piece lovers, this is a fairly petite friendly option with fully adjustable straps, a shelf bra inside, and removable lightly padded bust cups. I will say I’m 5 ft. tall and the bottom band of the shelf bra almost hit too high on me, so this might be an ideal fit on someone a little bit taller.

Love this cover up! Would totally wear this as a dress too! Looking for something for an upcoming vacay!

Is the color you’re wearing their Blue or Green – hard to tell on their site compared to what you are wearing! But love the color you have on.

Ahh those pearly sandals are so cute! I’m debating between them and the Valentino studded bow jelly sandals that I think you featured in another post. Between these two, which do you think are more comfortable for walking?

Hi Betty, I hope you and the kids have been well! I think the pearls feel more timeless, but I have to admit that the Valentino bow sandals are a bit more comfortable between the toes.

    Hi Jean,
I have a pair of the Gucci loafers in the mud color and accidentally scuffed the front while walking. Le sigh. Do you have a leather creme that you recommend for it or any tips on how to maintain the shoes in this light color. I ordered a few leather cremes on Amazon and many are close colors but not the perfect match. I called Gucci if they could help repair it but they said they don’t do any shoe repairs unfortunately. Thanks!

Such a bummer that they’ll no longer do repairs! If you can’t take them to Gucci I would recommend having a cobbler fix them, I tend to leave my designer pieces to the professionals

Hello, thank you for your lovely post! Is the full piece striped swimsuit that you tried on blue or navy? I think I am going to need to snap one up for myself 🙂 Thank you!
