This edition of workwear ideas features experimentation with boots, lots of earthy brown tones, and an accessory I’m trying to incorporate more of! My desire to dress cute has been severely thwarted by Boston winters, so the next installment will probably be a wishful one for spring.
1. Crop jacket + tapered pants
Here’s the trench from a few weeks ago styled with ankle pants, and it also looks so good with a full length trouser! I’ve been eying these Gucci heels for a while and finally pulled the trigger. The elongated squared toe walks a verrry fine line between matronly and stylish, but I’m personally a fan and like how they add a little vintage-feeling pattern to my solid colored outfits.
2. Crop pants + ankle boots
These pants have made frequent appearances over the past year, but this might be the first time with boots. I kept the boots dark with a slim, stretchy shaft and slender toe for an elongating effect. For more ideas on how to keep ankles warm with cropped pants, this product page on Sezane’s website has plenty of styling inspo: black pants + brown boots, cream pants + light boots, socks with loafers, and trouser socks with Mary Janes. Love this last one on others, but can’t see myself pulling it off!
Another style that I like more on others than myself is the neck scarf. It always gives “flight attendant” on me, but I’m determined to continue experimenting. It’s such a great way to add a little color and print, and tie together colors in an outfit.
3. Classic cream, black + camel
I could never tire of this classic color trio! Although I’ve been personally leaning toward longer midi-length cardigans, the Juliette sweater is longtime staple for those who like this mid length. The cap toe shoe adds a little interest here and ties some of the hues together. They’re old BR, but the similar pumps linked have such a sharp silhouette and good reviews!
4. Chunky knit + slip skirt + knee high boots
One combo I’ve loved experimenting with is a tall boot with a midi length slip skirt. If you only have ankle height boots, I’d add tights in the same color as the ankle boot to avoid creating additional truncating lines. See outfit #4 in my Ways to style a slip skirt post for an example!
5. Lady jacket + trousers + ankle boots
Another outfit with ankle boots that will keep you warm throughout. I think a high neckline undershirt layered under a collar-less jacket is so chic! My torso is insulated with a Heattech thermal top + thicker jacket, and I can easily fit my fleeced tights underneath these looser pants.
Which look here was your favorite?
Obsessed with these boot looks! đ Each outfit is so chic and versatile. Definitely getting some style inspiration for my work wardrobe!
